November ~flipping pages
9/11/2011
Chocolate Heaven is my first team building event with SHELL colleagues. We were served with yummy roasted meal & chocolate pudding. We learnt how to make choc. Very interesting! but I don't think I will give it a try coz I have the perception that Thorntons/M&S/Belgium choc is wonderful though.
I am very very missing Belgium choc.
The next day, Kirsty gave us gift card worth GBP10 to spend. This is so called THANK YOU card with money value. I have received TQ card with valueless..
12/11/2011
Too excited till cannot sleep. Anyway, no hard work I didnt expect much. Imagine the quality of work of lesser than a month to complete 20K words. And "Plagiarism". Learn to be grateful no doubt I am not the best!
I got my master!!!! bye bye worries ....I got my scroll. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it for my convocation. A bit upset as I need to perform closing & will be travelling on 21st to London & Prague in December.
However, stress would be coming soon as I need to do my ACCA. Sigh...study path never end lol!
Just back from my Friday's night drink @ AB1 with Gillian > my lunch buddy @ SHELL.

October ~ A new chapter @ Glasgow, Scotland
02.10.11 ( Sunday)
Yesterday & today I cooked the same " farewell dishes" > Nasi Lemak...
Sad of leaving & nervous to go to a new place which is 'Alien' to me...I am trying to combat & stepping forward now...going to catch my train to Glasgow!
Ian, Karen & children ....I am going to miss them. Karen given me comfort that if there is anything happen just call her...with her words, I really feel warm.Ian has given me a big hand..he gave me a lift to railway station. Early morning, I went to their house to say goodbye. Tears almost fall out...
I cooked choc tong yuen + soya milk & steam chinese cream bun. All of them like it! hehe
I got cards from them ...very special card. I will never forget them, no goodbye & shall see again in December!
I reached my new home @ Glasgow. Lulu, Laura( mother of the kids), Phoebe & Scarlet (twins) , Medaline, Richard ( Husband) of Laura ...they are my friends in Glasgow now. A very open, friendly & easy-going landlady. Glad to meet them.
After that, I left those luggage aside & went out for a walk to Morrison get some cleaning stuff. Some people not really that friendly, when you try to approach them , scare them away. A big sigh!
3/10/11( Mon)
Walking & walking & I am lost...Glasgow is a big big city. Today I explored the Glasgow town centre. Walk-in to a few restaurants & enquire for vacancy.
Odd working hours...most require one to work night shift say 7 - 4a.m . That's horrible! There's one Hong Kong restaurant interested to take me in but she still considering my location coz if it's too far, they will not want to send me back home.
This Saturday am going to one of the restaurant for trial. The manager called as Johnny seems quite nice.Free food & no pay.
Yesterday & today, still am busy with buying those groceries...too much. The room got annoying odour. Today is much better after had removing those empty boxes under my bed.
08/10/11( Sat)
Today is my trial work day at Chukoku Restaurant. No pay but can enjoy free food. The manager said will call me to confirm work day for next week. So I presume he takes me in...hopefully.
As usual...simple task for me just new environment. Didn't really talk much to others...just busy working. Afterall, find less friendly environment. Sigh...just for money sake, got no choice. Trying to earn more & planning to have a long term part-time job. Praying hard no SHELL staff found out..
Food less tasty than Saigon but variety coz it is buffet & fairly cheap.
Something I find HUGE different of Glasgow than Aberdeen are there are KTV, Waterstone bookstore have 'free reading book' concept like Kinokuniya , more highways & no one actually walking > too scatter & huge. Thus, people most time rely on public transport. more mega supermarkets, shops close a bit later than at Aberdeen, flea market concept known as Forger market. Somehow, price & quality can never beat fast fashion like Primark.
I am super duper miss Lizzie. I came across peppa pig reading books make me thinking of her.
21/10/2011 ( Thursday) ~ My first week @ SHELL Glasgow
My first week at SHELL Glasgow. Very different working culture. I believe there should be "Work life balance", my colleagues go back home sharp. Just that, they prefers have their lunches at pantry. I prepare my own packed lunch all the time. Afterall, their lunch is sandwiches or ready food from M&S & get it heat up in microwave...sien lol.

Bad or good people everywhere. Similarly apply to SHELL Glasgow. Some are friendly but not all. Glasgow English is difficult to understand. At first, I thought I am the only one having problem with that. In fact,my boss from Ireland sometimes don't understand local people English.
There are quite a number of guys are working at SHELL.Even though most are ladies.

7/08/11 ( Sun) - Dinner at my house with Hong & David
I cooked cereal prawn, sweet & sour fish, herbal soup ( Bak Kut Teh), stir -fry spring garden. And dessert is apple tart from Farm Food.
David ate a lot ...hehe..he used to eat little when dine-in at Saigon. He's a gay but both Hong & I never have bias judgement on him. We respect who he is. We like his happy-go-lucky character....always positive...
Most Scottish are rich but they don't like to show off. You hardly can tell these are rich group. David's family is rich too. But he keeps low profile...He has his own business, he runs his own salon.
He shared with us his love life with his boy friends. He bought me flowers + cards.
Well both of them rated my cooking is good =)
He said next round would be dining at his house. next next week...looking forward.

Dear Jeya,
08.08.11 ( Monday) Thank you note to Jeya ( My ex-process manager)
Dear Jeya,
Just wanted to say a billion THANKS for your compliment on me.
I went to Glasgow for interview this afternoon. The Scott lady ( Whoops..I can't remember her name! They were two ladies had a chat with me) told me you complimented on my past performance with RTRR team. Thus, without second thought they have been called me for an interview & without hassle to go through test. To get a job in UK is a bit difficult without having the post-study work visa.
Regardless whether I will be short-listed for the position, really appreciate your compliment.
Have a nice day!
Cheers,
Christine

04/07/11 ~ An adventure night!
A nightmare...After finished work..I make my way back home & only then I realised I left my house key...Arghhh! I thought wait for a moment & get someone to open the door for me. Unfortunately it was 12.30a.m. everyone has slept. I shouted softly at Rong...she couldn't hear me & it really kinda late. Really dare not to shout too loud.
Waited & waited for another 2 hours...hopeless. I started feel the cold breezy wind...a thought came to me..to overnight at Great Western hotel...I knew it was just GBP25...no choice..
I have no money/ debit card & not even cellphone with me..I begged the fella to allow me stay over & promise to pay the next day. The boy was kind...he allowed me to do that.Thank goodness..so kind of him.
Simple & with good hotel facilities.Thumbs up! < very clean, nice central heating, free beverages ~ I have curi some ) I can't do much..had my shower & undressed. After all, my working clothing so smelly & end up got to wrap with towel to sleep as my pyjamas. use water to soak my contact lens as my solution. What a disaster.
http://www.ebookers.com/hotels/United_Kingdom/Aberdeen/Great_Western_Hotel_Aberdeen.h381961/
The next morning, I check-out at 10a.m. Waited about 15min & there was an English handsome guy opened the door of my flat coz it's time for him to hang out at the gym..yeah...phew..finally I'm home.
I have paid for a HIGH price of the lesson..the morale of the story is to be extra caution & not to be careless..
5/7/11 - 3 jobs...yeah!
My new job -recommended by my Saigon's boss. I will be working at Take-away restaurant the following two-week after. Nice working environment.
Less headache compare with Saigon. Just that got to be extra careful with the address where I need customer help to spell out. I am having difficulty with that.
Yet, dinner at Saigon is always the best. Wonderful meals there. The lady boss paid me GBP 4/hr. Standard rate applicable to all take-away restaurant.
Thank to god who had saved my life...otherwise, I would be very poor this month coz will be exhausted with the trips...sigh. Need to save more money for the PSW application. Got to work triple hard lol.
9/7/11 - 16/7/11 ~ Memorable trip with Kaylyn
On Saturday, thanks to Hong as she has offered a big help to me...I got to work at restaurant & ended up she helped to meet up with Kaylyn & showed her the way to my house.
The next morning we went to Stonehaven...a small fishing village yet with stunning view. I like most is the Dunnotar castle & to see the cows..
the next day, I brought her tour around Duthie Park & to riverside
I like the rose garden...roses blooming elsewhere in Aberdeen...so beautiful!
After a day resting...we went to Edinburgh..awesome! I like Edinburgh better than Aberdeen...keke
A city filled with historical values.
Edinburgh hot spots are:
Edinburgh castle
Edinburgh Tattoo
Calton Hill - can have a great view of the city at the hill top
Princes Garden
St Giles church - I like most! A church I term as a version of Barcelona church.
My cooking ~ specially to Kaylyn so she can try something different.
Coca-cola chicken, Turkey meal, Brussels sprouts, Italian pasta using pesto sauce, pancake ( my version), curry prawn + tofu + cucumber salad ( with lime juice + sesame seeds) , Avocado & vegetables salad ( dressing with Balsamic vinegar) , chinese fried rice ( packed lunch to Edinburgh ), Sushi ( packed lunch to Cairngorm), Spanish sausages, toast with cheese, scramble eggs, Malaysia style prawn noodle & pot stickers.
Snack: shortbread, minibites, fruits, crisp, Choc Mousse Cheesecakes, pizza
Hehe...Kaylyn enjoyed the meals...Good sign! I think she likes most is the turkey meal as hardly found in Asian countries.Even if, it could be pricey. Imagine I got it for just about GBP 1.71.
Cairngorm
I am the coordinator. Been exhausted arranging the booking & gathering information. Also, acting as intermediary amongst the group & Kaylyn. Not an easy task.
Phew..2 days 1 night trip finally over. Time is flying...well, everything went smooth. All of them enjoyed the views & trip.
Day 1: Celidh Night GBP 27.5 & walk at top GBP 12.5 ( Cairngorm mountain)
Windy but no snow on that day. We managed to catch a good view of the mountain. Some sort of different views than KK mountain which I have climbed before. thumbs up!
I like the Scottish dance, it's a group dancing where to get everyone dance together. And I like the food as well. Not too bad lol...
Day 2: Findhorn Valley - stunning view!
Personally, I find wildlife watching is something new to me. We watched Roe Deer, highland cow, reindeer, red deer, Scot blackface sheep, Red squirrel, eagle ( can't see clearly) & Mountain hare. Not in the woods but around Findhorn Valley. According to the guide, he said it would be more interesting/ easier than spending a day in woods for nothing"Hunting" for the species we wanted to see.
Well, the package costs GBP20 p.p
19th - 25th July Summer trip ~ Amsterdam & Belgium ( Brussels, Antwerpen & Brugge)
Awesome...less hectic & very relaxing trip coz my friend did most of the homework. Whereas Cairngorm trip I was the leader. A bit "san fu" ..need to take care everyone.
I like to see those historical buildings and I love the Brussels 3-course dinner ( Especially mussels), Belgian waffles & chocolates...
Amsterdam hotel > old Quarter hotel is dirty, I couldn't sleep well; Brussels, Max Hotel > thumbs up. So clean. neat & tidy. Indeed it is much cheaper. Impress with the EXPRESS hotel concept.
30/7/11 - upsetting story from my god sister Nicole
Irresponsible man who has hurt my god sis. Stolen her heart & pension money.
Sob sob...really make me cry after had read her mail.
From Nicole,
You know what? My hubby left me again and this has been happening for the last 5 times. I can't fight this battle anymore and I'm going to leave and surrender my marriage to God. I just want to find out from you whether there are any opportunities in UK that I would be able to work there maybe in the restaurant or cafe or shops?
Which is virtually impossible to land a job if you do not have a visa unless work illegally. I know she just wanted to getaway from painful memory.
Hopefully, she will be recovering the soonest possible. Very worry how's she doing now...financially sound?

June11' Diary
8/6/11 ( Tuesday)
I have moved in to my new home. Fei & Rong now are my housemates.
Shock! the house was a mess + dirty. Really couldn't understand why gals house is so?
I did a deep cleaning bit by bit as I need to work sometimes. I clean bathroom, kitchen & my room. It is really not easy. very dirty. I need to wipe off those stubborn stain been there for long. It's really very horrible. Perhaps I am really not use to it ..with such a dirty environment coz my mom has trained me to be a very hygenic person. Now, recalling some past memories. I really appreciate my mom's hardwork to maintain the house ...it's just wonderful! Never know something call "san fu" if you never have done housework before. I am a very good example.
No tumble dryer & heater is not powerful...so that's the problem of clothing hard to get dry. And the whole house is super cold.
I have my haircut today, really need courage to act. Can't expect Hairdresser here to meet asian expectation. > A big sigh. I have spent GBP 15 for haircut.
I like grape fruit...it's like Pamelo..so juicy
Sales... 20p for gloves & GBP 1 for the winter hat > for dad & mom...
26/6
After work, I was walking home with Sharon. First time ever seen an open pee toilet for guys. Open toilet, open culture! It will be displayed by Aberdeen City Council every Saturday's night.

May 11' - life in Aberdeen UK
Busy moving to new home. I have made a few trips to move my stuff over. I pulled my luggage or carried those all by myself. Very cumbersome, however, can save taxi cost. My last day staying at Woolmanhill guess most likely is on 3rd June.
Unhappy with uncertain part-time job working hours. Luckily I have two jobs. Praying for a better job. Have been applying & applying, yet no good news!
Pluck as & when you need. It stays fresher than keep in fridge...Fresh to eat! only 50P

Was delighted to see you, you are so beautiful! Mute Swan is also known as Royal Bird. No one is allowed to eat/ kill swan. Swan is symbol of love. Unlike Mandarin ducks. They never stay apart each other. ' The couple' always swim together.

April 2011 ~ Life in Aberdeen, UK
05/04/11
Beautiful Aberdeen ...it's Spring. Yet, still cold. I wear lesser layer but still with winter coat. No gloves, winter hat or scarft.
After a long long walk...finally I reached Joy's house. Taken many scenery pictures. I did cooking...simple dishes...Thai curry prawn, raddish egg & stir fry aubergines ...all in chinese style.
I like: Flowers blooming, plum tree...Japan feel > Sakura, Joy's house like a forest> many wild animals.Well, sad to hear Joy & Rod might be leaving Aberdeen very soon. No doubt at first quite dislike the way they treat guest. In fact, perhaps it's Canadian style of treating guest> my generalisation.
Glad to know Malaysian friend...

De-stress plans > Duthie Park + Riverside. Coursework + assignments ...never end stories ...indeed disastrous...how many sleepless night I had.
Appreciate great moments I had with those "mei mei"...so much fun! We had picnic @ Duthie Park & have taken many pictures.

March11 - Life in Aberdeen,UK
6/3/11
Just had supper at Saigon, very yummy!!! Chefs cooked Malaysian style curry & mee hoon.
Hope I can work through the night to complete my assignment.
Find unfair...heard from my flatmates, most of them score good marks. Score high is easy but don't apply to my course. Failing rate is high & getting an A is super hard. Why? I really couldn't understand. Thought RGU is lousy uni & should lower the marking scheme. Just it isn't apply to my course.
I cooked pancake n now frozen. I made 6 of them & plan to eat that as n when I feel like eating those. Very yummy...I added banana & raisins. This is UK style...frozen food. easier to manage actually. And even bread..I did freeze it & can consume within a month.
And I fried chicken > it looked great but I don't find too satisfiable though..still need more practice.
Look, during this fine weather, my onion has grow spring onion. I chopped them & plan to use them for cooking...keke.
I cooked Italian sauce a modification of Bolognese sauce> I use red wine. Now my style is..prepare food consumption for few days & finish them within 2 / 3 days. save my cooking time. Somehow, I will watch youtube & discover new recipe. Now I will cook 2 days once. I am fussy ...I have cooked the sauce this morning for about 45min & now storing in container. Estimate to finish it within 3 days. Last week I made sushi & last for 5 days. Within these 5 days, I just add additional serving. i.e. stir fry vegetables. Fairly simple & yummy. I made tempura prawn & sauce...first attempt...not too bad.

We have set rule that BDAY girl will have to cook. Hehe..Fei Fei helped by a good chef from China.
Well, China culture is to have all sumptuos dishes ( as many as possible) all on table vs Malaysian culture. Fried Bee Hoon , chicken wing, jelly ...keke.
Well, I really enjoy the dinner. good job!!!

I am really exhausted...juggle with 2 jobs. I can't cope. Luckily this week, I am off > Aupair's job. Somehow, I still need to work at the restaurant for 2 days this week. Earning something, better than none.
Yippie...I am so glad with my Banking. Given so tight deadlines, I scored good marks for my task1 Treasury I got 56% & Banking I got 72%. I thought banking would be horrible, who's know? hehe...I remember that I fall asleep & woke up work on it during the week. And indeed, busy week as I force to work long hours at Karen's house. Really grateful ...but I may not be that lucky all the time.
Things getting tougher & tougher lol. Task 2 probably need more more time to think & write.
My contigency plan is perhaps stop working at the restaurant after Easter holiday & just work for the Aupair one. Of course, I may be in deficit position. So I am getting my sister to transfer money from my savings. Which is going to be exhausted soon...sigh. Just a month plan..coz I am going to spend a month to work for 12K words. The Research Method is the most horrible ...
Just had supper at Saigon, very yummy!!! Chefs cooked Malaysian style curry & mee hoon.
Hope I can work through the night to complete my assignment.
